The organizers of the event are looking for volunteers to work two-hour shifts in serving lines. A serving line is usually 4-5 people.  Available shifts are  12 noon – 2 p.m., 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., 4 pm – 6 p.m., 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.  Groups are invited to wear t-shirts or caps to identify their organization or group.

We will also be serving at several different non-profit organizations in the downtown area that morning.  In addition, those that may wish to participate but can not join us or are unable to serve with physical labor, can drop off baked goods at City Hall at 9am.  We will take the baked goods to Lighthouse Mission and other agencies that help with feeding those in need.

There is no cost for the program, however, a free-will offering will be taken to help with the cost of running the program.  The meeting will consist of a worship time, and a teaching in a large group setting with both men and women.  It will be followed by small groups, one for men and one for women, where we will discuss the evenings teaching and minister more specifically to the needs of those who are participating.

The participating members will be brainstorming ideas for improved cooperation among social services.  Information will be shared about a new resource called Charity Tracker along with statistical information from the community that will assist in grant writing efforts.

This year’s theme for the day is “Prayer for such a time as this” with the following scripture: “The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him” Nahum 1:7.

The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast will be held for pastors and government, business, and community leaders at 9am on May 6th. The breakfast is being held at the Idle Creek Banquet facility.

Ticket prices are $15 each or a church or business may sponsor a table to help defer the cost of the event for $200 a table. This includes 10 tickets to the event. The city-wide National Day of Prayer service will be held at Noon on the steps of Terre Haute’s City Hall. Many pastors, community leaders, and citizens will join Mayor Bennett for this annual event.  The five areas of focus will be on church, city, state, nation and Israel.  Each focus will have a prayer leader and will be combined with worship.
